RALEIGH – David Redding Sr. of Midway Park is the most recent player to win $100,000 instantly playing the lottery's $5 MONOPOLY scratch-off game. He purchased his winning ticket, worth $68,001 after taxes, at the Food Lion on Freedom Way in Jacksonville.

The $5 MONOPOLY game is part of a suite of games that launched on March 26. Winners from Brunswick County, Charlotte and Greensboro have also claimed $100,000 prizes playing the $5 game. With Redding's win, two top prizes of $100,000 remain unclaimed.

Ticket sales for games such as MONOPOLY have enabled the lottery to raise more than $2.9 billion for education initiatives statewide. Since the lottery began through June 30, 2012, Onslow County education programs received more than $37.5 million in lottery funds. By law, those funds pay for teachers’ salaries in grades K-3, school construction, prekindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, need-based college scholarships and financial aid and digital learning.
